I seen this when it came out way back when and could not remember it so I caught it on cable the other night. I wish I would have changed the channel.
Were the people all stupid, she doesnt even look like a boy/man! All of the guys have beards and stubble and we are supposed to believe that nobody figured this out? Stupid!!!
None of the songs are memorable. This movie should have won all the RAZZIE AWARDS it was nominated for, plus more!

Though the original poster doesn't strike me as wildly sophisticated in his tastes, I have to agree with his verdict there was just so much Barbra in this film that I eventually got Barbra Fatigue I mean, you get a wonderful, Tony Award winning singer like Mandy Patinkin for the love-interest and you don't give him as much as one song?
This, along with the equally awful A Star is Born" just reeks of la Streisands's overwhelming vanity.
and calling someone a "imbecile moron stupid inbred" for expressing their opinion doesn't exactly make you sound "intelligent and sophisticated" either.

I'm not as eloquent as the poster but I agree with them in principle. It was just too maudlin and unlikely. It was however, a nice lesson in Judaica for those of us who are hardly exposed to the culture at all.

I absolutely loved the movieSome people love it, you hate it. It's a matter of taste anyway. Cause the movie did won awards.
I think the music in this movie was brilliantbecause it relates to life so much.I particulary remember the song: "There are moments we remember all our lifes". And the ideas that were brought in the light in this moviewere great: the pursue of knowledge, the equality between woman and men, NOTHING'S IMPOSSIBLE!, you can achieve your dreams, showing the complexity and the simpicity of love. The directing was great for that erain my opinion.( I mean, comparing that movie with many of the craps that are today on tv!) I say Barbra did a good job for a directorial debut.
I give this movie 8/10.
And by the wayhannahp1what movie would receive a 10/10 from you?
