Hello guys!
Airwolf was one of my favorite series on TV in the 80s and I must say, it's the only one that didn't lost it's magic over the years. Some things just look more thrilling when you are a kid
I was happy when I was able to see Airwolf on DVD and in it's original language (as in most cases the German synchronisation is terrible and full of mistakes. I mean, why had they name Stringfellow Huckleberry, just to begin with?)
So after seeing the full show staring JM Vincent (didn't want to see the other show right now), two major qusetions came to my mind.- Question
Strings cabin is right in the mountains. You can't see any wires attached to it. So how does it come, there is electricity in the cabin? Today I would guess there are some hidden solar cells or electricity is made of using wind. But in the 80s? I can't imagine using a diesel generator to create enough electricity to light all those lamps illuminating the paintings. - Question
In the beginning it is stated, that no one is able to fly Airwolf except String. Okay, I go with that. At least for some episodes.
Because in the end Dom flies Airwolf. And Cate does. And I think even Archangel does, but I am not sure about that.
So what's the sense of stating "only String can fly Airwolf" and then providing a couple of other pilots????
I am very happy to see, that this board is still active so I hope that there are some people out there who can answer my questions or at least state, that there are two big wholes in the storyboard of Airwolf.

I think that was just for the initial mission to steal it back from Moffet. String was one of the test pilots during its development. You would want a seasoned combat pilot familiar with the prototype for that, so for that Hawke was the only one they had to take it from behind enemy lines like that. Sure later on they would have trained someone more loyal to The Firm to use it, but Hawke refusing to give it back ruined that.

Your question is well taken. As a guy who lived in the desert southwest in the 1980s, let me provide some ideas.
- Propane/butane tanks - these were attached to almost all mobile homes that I saw in Arizona in the 1980s. I think that they provided cooking fuel and drove electrical generators. Hey, I was a kid, this is what I remember.
- Fuel oil generators - now as an adult, I have seen these in operation. I mean, there are even commercials/advertisements here (in the USA) telling us to buy them in case of some emergency.
And you sure as hell are not someone I would refer to as stupid. I wish that 10% of my friends would ask questions like yours.

I am German and my electrical power comes from the plug in my wall. There is no other way. I know of generators, of course, but I can't imagine using them because I have absolutely no experience.
But thanks for your first hand informations. I do not know if my questions are stupid or not (as you say) but I am very curious and from all my childhood TV shows Ariwolf is the only one I still love and I am glad that I can watch it now in it's original language on DVD. It's so much better than the German dubbing. -

Question 1: Gastanks most likely. Or Strings has his own minimature hydro-electric dam in the lake.
Question 2: As stated Hawke was an Testpilot who has flown Airwolf so he was the only choice to bring it back after Moffett ripped of the Firm. In Episode 06 of the first season Dom flies in Airwolf as a regular helicopter. That statement is made aswell "250 knots why doesnt he use the turbos" "We would not be able to control Airwolf" Next time we see Dom fly Airwolf is in Season 2. Its highly possible that Hawke taught Dom how to fly Airwolf properly. As a back-up should Hawke be unable to fly. -

It's possible though I find it unlikely. Everyone being able to fly her was inline with as the show went on absolutely everyone started to know she existed and had been stolen by Hawke yet never attempted to get her back until it talk Locke and the blonde haired dude in season 4 (shudder) all of 10 minutes to do so.
