Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Airwolf

    WWu777 — 12 years ago(February 11, 2014 02:24 AM)

I'll start it. Feel free to add any more.
100 Things I Learned From Airwolf

    1. Great pilots just happen to have bird names (Hawke).
    2. Helicopters can go at Mach one with no resistance from its chopper blades.
    3. Super helicopters look bigger on the inside than on the outside, with plenty of leg room and space for computers and terminals. (might as well put in a mini fridge too)
    4. Right next door to Los Angeles, where Santini Air is located, are the desert canyons of Utah, where Airwolf is hidden. String and Dom can drive from LA to Utah in a matter of minutes whenever they need Airwolf. To them, a 12-15 hour drive takes only minutes.
(Note: I know the Southwest desert well and recognize the place Airwolf comes out of. It's either in the Valley of the Gods, Arches National Park, or Canyonlands. These areas are in Utah and about a 12-15 hour drive from LA.)
    5. Michael can use his Arkangel firm to find out anything in the world. But he can't use his resources to find where Airwolf is in the desert. Nor can he have String and Dom followed when they go to Airwolf's hideout.
    6. If your name is Hawke, the first woman you fall in love with in the pilot episode will die sadly. But after that, every single nice woman you meet in the next three seasons of the show will never get killed. Unless of course, she teams up with the bad guys and try to shoot Airwolf down.
    7. Arch villains like Moffat enjoy baking women in the desert for no reason other than sadomasochism.
    8. Michael only has hot assistants in the pilot episode for Hawke to fall in love with, but not after that.
    9. If you steal Airwolf from Moffat, your climactic confrontation with him will be yourself in Airwolf vs. him standing in the desert with a handgun in the final battle. Gee what a great match! lol
    10. If your name is String Fellow Hawke, then every aircraft you fight against will always result in the same scenario: The aircraft shoots machine guns at you, which bounces off Airwolf's hull. Then it shoots missiles or rockets at you, which misses. Then once you've had enough, you fire one of Airwolf's missiles without aiming, destroy your target and go home.
    11. If you are flying Airwolf, then machine gun bullets will always hit you so they can bounce off and look cool. But rockets and missiles will always miss you.
    12. If your name is String Fellow Hawke, everyone misses when they shoot missiles at you.
    13. If your name is String Fellow Hawke, you don't have to aim or try to hit your target. All you have to do is press the missile button with your thumb on Airwolf's joystick, and you will have a 100 percent hit rate on your target. Your shots will be infallible.
    14. Geniuses like Moffat who created Airwolf, will leave it unlocked and unguarded in the Middle East, so that people like String Fellow Hawke and Dominic Santini can jump inside and fly it away. No passcode is required to fly the world's most expensive helicopter.
    15. If your name is String Fellow Hawke, you can jump into Airwolf without any training and fly it like an ace. You were born to fly Airwolf, so you can fly it like a pro with no training on your first try.
    16. String Fellow Hawke is the best combat pilot in the world. Totally invincible. Even if you fly in Airwolf II, he can still destroy you with just one missile shot.
    17. String Fellow Hawke always lets his opponent fire at him first, so he can enjoy hearing bullets bouncing off Airwolf and dodge missiles.
    18. Every missile and rocket in the world looks like a little thunderbolt when fired, just like Airwolf's does.
    19. If you are in a jet fighter, and Airwolf is after you, you can't run away or outrun it, even though you should be able to leave Airwolf in the dust.
    20. Every chopper that bad guys get into has the ability to fire rockets that look like little thunderbolts.
    21. Every rocket or missile fired at Airwolf will hit the ground and explode.
    22. Guided missiles take a really long time to reach their target, long enough to drop sunbursts in its path.
    23. The police and US Navy have no aircraft to fight bad guys with. They always have to rely on Airwolf to do the job.
    24. If your super helicopter can't look like it's going Mach one, then just speed up the film a little to make it look faster.
    25. Top secret helicopters hide in famous national parks open to the public, such as Arches or Canyonlands in Utah.
    26. Hawke always lets bullets hit Airwolf on purpose, so he can show off to the camera how they bounce off of Airwolf's hull.
    27. Airwolf is bullet proof, but its blade rotor isn't. Yet no one ever thinks to shoot at its rotor.
    28. Airwolf can take laser hits from Airwolf II yet be undamaged.
    29. Airwolf II comes with a small red helmet for the pilot that is kid sized and looks like it's from Toys R Us.
    30. Airwolf can take an unlimited number of bullet hits and not even get a scratch from them.
    31. Hawke and Dom have an unlimited supply of missiles and ammunition to refill Airwolf with in that desert hideout. They get i

      1. Sinjin is a cool way to pronounce St John.
I am Djour Djilios. Could you spell that please? I don't think so. Try it with a "D".

That's what I thought after watching the show for the first time since the 80s.

          1. Everybody, I mean EVERYBODY owns Hughes 500 gunships. You can be the manager of an Arby's, and several clerks will have 2 or 3 whirlybirds for no reason.
          2. Airwolf can be just about anywhere in the world, FIRM mission or not, stopping for fuel be damned!

            1. Supersonic helicopters sound exactly like X-wings from Star Wars, especially when performing high velocity maneuvers.
            2. Only three people in the world know how to engage auto-rotation on a helicopter.
            3. Moffat designed Airwolf but the electronics were designed by Atari, hence their use of video game sound effects.
            4. Sinjin is apparently harder to find than Waldo.

It was mentioned in the pilot episode that Moffett & Hawke were the only 2 to ever pilot Airwolf. So it's not a plot hole that Hawke knew how to pilot & operate it. He was specifically chosen for this reason.
But yeah I agree the most glaring plot hole is no passcode/security on Airwolf's door or on the ability to turn on the system. It's like anyone could get inside and fly it! You would think if Airwolf was remade in 2016 they'd have a form of biometric security(retinal scan, thumb scanner, etc)

That's just what I wanted to state on No 15
"15. If your name is String Fellow Hawke, you can jump into Airwolf without any training and fly it like an ace. You were born to fly Airwolf, so you can fly it like a pro with no training on your first try. "

                  1. Weapons that are only carried under the wings of other aircraft due to size can easily be fired from small-diameter tubes under Airwolf.
                  2. Large weapons such as Harpoon anti-ship missiles can be carried and easily reloaded.
                  3. Hawke has an aversion to picking up guns from
                    gun thugs
after he knocks them out. He'd rather just run away so the
                    gun thugs
can pick up their weapons and continue to use them against him.
                  4. Despite being very wealthy, Archangel can't afford a glass eye.
                  5. Hawke was a former quick-change artist. He can get into Airwolf wearing civilian clothing and be wearing his gray uniform seconds later.
                  6. Despite starting with a tactical advantage, Hawke always lets the bad guys get behind him so they can fire missiles into the ground (see # 21) and bounce machine gun bullets off Airwolf (see #26 and #30). Then like a pro wrestler, he gets really mad and takes 'em out.
                  7. While every other Bell 222 helicopter has a range of less than 400 miles, Airwolf can fly thousands of miles without refueling.
                  8. Airwolf's radio can instantly synch with any other radio on the planet, such as police and fire departments.
Ignoring politics doesn't mean politics will ignore you.

                    1. Yeah, that bothered me, too. Always wondered about the uniform thing anyway. Why was the uniform that important and why did theay always had uniforms anywhere? Like the cabin, the lair, Airwolf
                      So maybe
                    2. You can't fly Airwolf without wairing the right uniform.
