Moffet's character was wasted and Gabriela's death was unnecessary

Moffett's character was wasted in the pilot episode. There should have been some confrontation between him and Hawke. Instead, Hawke just blows him up while he's standing on the ground. What a waste and what a terrible ending of what could have been a good pilot episode.
Also, the death of Hawke's girlfriend Gabriela was senseless too. She could have left after Airwolf was found. But she decided to stay and endanger her life even though there was no tactical advantage in doing so. No one would have stayed there after that.
So Moffett doesn't want sex, but he wants to take women to the desert and watch them bake? That's sick and stupid.

- There was indeed a kind of "confrontation" between them. In essence, they fought a dual, and Hawke won.
- Gabriela's death was necessary to fully establish the character of Hawke and to explain why he leads the life he leads.(hermit)
- Moffett is talked about in one episode, and actually seen in another. He was not simply forgotten. And yes, Moffett was a sicko.

I would have liked Moffett's death to be more open-ended that way they had the option of bringing him back. There could have been a true confrontation between him and Hawke. This would have made the "Airwolf II" episode much better. Though I do enjoy watching Wings Hauser's coked out Harlan Jenkins character.

The story revolved around Hawke. I don't see much use for Airwolf's designer, aside from flashbacks. Hawke lost his parents, girlfriend, and his brother. All those were close to him. The issue with Gabriela is that she wasn't established as his love interest long enough for it to be poignant; she couldn't have meant that much to him in such a short a time. It would have been better for him to mourn the death of a talented colleague.

Yeah, I was watching a re-run of this the other day and was thinking the same thing about Moffet. He was one of the best actors to appear in the series. Probably killed him too soon.
