Naaah, I liked Michael Caine Way better. Maybe that's cause I'm a chick. I was annoyed by Michelle Johnson and only years after i first saw this i realized she wasn't evil.

I'm so agreeing w/ you about this man. He's a very good actor, besides I'm also a chick. Basically, I think he's kinda cute anyway.
Nobody say a word about that.^

Both had their own way of stealing the spotlight, Michael Caine with his hysterical lines and Michelle Johnson with her hysterical 'acting' performances.

The only bad acting in this movie was "Nikki Hollis". That smoker voice yikes!!!
Michelle Johnson was awesome in this movie!

You gotta be kidding Michelle Johnson proved that looks & bad acting can only go so far. Looking back it's funny how Johnson's career tanked & Demi Moore became one of the highest paid actresses in the world.
Last I heard, Baseball player Matt Williams dumped her back in 2002. I think she's now a stripper in South Phoenix.

That is pretty crazy about how their careers went. I actually had forgotten that Demi was in the movie until I watched it again recently for the first time in years. However, I didn't forget the self-portrait that MJ took!

That is pretty crazy about how their careers went.
Demi Moore is actually about 3 years older than Michelle Johnson, and had multiple acting credits in movies, TV movies, and TV series before BLAME IT ON RIO.
Michelle Johnson was signed for BIOR two months out of high school (and she graduated one semester early besides!). She was preparing for a modelling career in New York prior to that signing. (5 feet, 10 1/2 inches tall)
She had no acting credits at all.
Now then, who is complaining about her "cheesy acting"? This movie was her first acting job!
The two actresses were far from 'equal footing' in terms of their skills.
Demi did her first topless screen in BIOR, and Michelle did her topless and full frontal nude scenes in her very first movie. (Can we all say 'overexposure'?) That is not such a big deal for a model, but where does an actress go from there?
Their IMDB bio information is the source for that acting info.
As a stray thought, the movie's comment about photos of that self-portrait being all over Tokyo would be a good lesson for the 'selfie' crowd these days. A single Polaroid picture, with no negative, was pretty safe from duplication or reprinting, and digitizing a photo was not all that available when the movie was made. Now, a single photo selfie can have countless perfect copies made once it gets sent to anyone, and there is no way to get them back.

I think Michelle Johnson's acting was cheesy, but I sort of can relate to her character in this film.

Sure, when I was 14 in 1985 Michelle Johnson was the sole reason to watch this movie but Caine and Bologna are absolute stars in this film - their comic timing and chemistry is fantastic. I'm glad I found this movie and it's something I can watch even now. Thank you, Michelle's breasts!

Steve, you got it.the movie was good due to the combination of Michelle's looks and Caine and Bologna's comedy.but though she was young, I think Michelle should get her due for carrying off this role.this movie is not supposed to be great drama, but a light and funny comedy you watch for the fun, the crazy plot, and the beautiful setting.must admit though I watched her "big scenes" many a time.but Michael Caine makes the movie, as he does so often.

This movie holds up well IMO. I love Bologna and Caine and Michelle Johnson is dazzlingly cute and believable as the young nymph. Demi Moore falls into a big hole. What a stiff! She actually is well cast as the withdrawn pouty daughter with no emotional range.
