Oh absolutely! First off…both my cats are elderly and have always been indoor cats…no real survival skills.
We also have had a dramatic increase in coyote in our actual neighborhood due to our village bordering a metro park and being semi rural to begin with. Finally…due to the predator risk…many folk see a stray cat and either adopt it or take it to a rescue immediately…so it's really not en Vogue to allow strays where I reside. -

When I was as a kid it was more common. Most came home nightly…but once in a while you never saw them again. I hated that! I can stand saying goodbye…but the thought of them cold scared and alone is not my fondest child memory and still troubles me.

We did have an outdoor cat maybe ten years ago.
I found him on a job site and took him home. We had him examined and it turned out he had feline aids so I couldn't take him in the house with the others.
I made him a nest in my garage and allowed him to wonder. All summer long he would appear daily…then he stopped. He returned looking bad! I had to take him to the vet to do the right thing

The vet assured us that he was on his last legs.. probably wouldn't have made it another day. It was like he came home to die with us

Yes absolutely!
One other horrible reason we keep our cats indoors. There is evidently a man that collects strays to sell for scientific research
I've heard many stories and believe in less than half… but still…why risk it? -

Many kitties are better off being indoor cats. We live in a climate where we have more winter weather than warm. We also live in the city. Lots of traffic.
Ours is a house cat… not a working one like a barn cat. Most vets advise keeping cats indoors for a longer life. Makes sense.

She didn't want more cats but she loves animals. They stayed inside for a long time but, of course they wanted to be out so she gave in. They're the sweetest, whenever I go to get the mail one usually comes to greet me
My other neighbors always have at least one cat and she used to feed a feral. If memory serves, they took care of him and helped him when it was his time to pass
