Shot as a hard-R by The Vikings director Richard Fleischer before being softened in the edit suite, this swords n sorcery sequel lacks the sex, violence and frown lines of John Milius barbarian original.

indeed and quite sad. it still has some brutal scenes for being rated pg. would be nice to see an unrated version (if one exists).

        That's such a shame.

Perhaps if Schwarzenegger does do King (or Legend of) Conan, then they will release the violent and sexier 'R' scenes that were cut.

Most of this movie was toned down in budget and script before anything was shot. I'm sure very little alternate footage exists today.

It wasn't the intention to shoot a graphically violent Conan, like the first. On the commentary, Fleischer comments that he felt the film was still too violent in parts and there are some blood splashes. It find it still delivers the goods and is more fantasy violence orientated. The lighter tone lets it get away with a PGthis was pre PG13 inception.

I remember when it came out and it getting bad reception from critics and reading that it was toned down. Sarah Douglas mentioned her part was bigger and she was disappointed that they did cut a sexy scene w Arnie. http://a.onionstatic.com/images/articles/article/45525/conan_g2g_M_jpg_627x325_crop_upscale_q85.jpg

Hopefully we can get a version with those scenes in it.
