I would have liked to get the DVD if one ever came out. Thanks to someone posting on You Tube, I was able to see this great movie again!

There are lots of reasons movies don't make it to DVD, often legal reasons, but the MPAA has nothing to do with it. Notice that NEARLY ALL commercially successful films have come out on DVD because it was worth it for the companies and individuals who hold the rights to work it out.
Firstborn, on the other hand, was a box office flop, even though it was a pretty good movie, and it only did so-so on VHS back in the day. The same is true for other halfway decent films (before DVD) like Mischief, Airborne, Rad, Joshua Then and Now, Stick, and countless not-so-good movies. That's why movie buffs still have VHS players.
The only mainstream censorship going on in country is governed by Buck Almighty.
And someone needs to learn how to use the word 'whom' correctly or just use 'who' for everything like everyone else.

How true. Until EVERYTHING comes on dvd I'm keeping mine. I just bought an old vhs version of this on amazon, and though it was great to see this movie again it definitely needs a quality dvd release.

My VCR IS a VHS player, as are most VCRs today. The REAL hard-core collectors have Beta players as well. And don't forget Laser Disc players!
Maybe the unfortunate passing of Corey Haim will generate enough interest to get this movie released on DVD.

                    Golden words.
Before the internet most people knew jack about movies, movie buffs stood out a mile. I can still recall when it was an aberration to have a movie review guide or more than one or two films soundtracks. People as a whole tend to be 'passive' consumers, and only a minority are 'active'. The internet has changed all that. Now everyone feels like they're an active consumer even though they're still passive. When I talk to people now, if they don't have a VHS or Videos still as part of their collections, I know I'm talking to a 'passive' (at least, it's one of the criteria).

Stick got good reviews from critics and it opened up #1 at the box office. Why is a movie like First Born not on dvd or even Stick (which is available now from Warner Bros.Archives selections),and movies like Ghoulies 4 or Leprechaun 4,5,6 or even crap like Jaws The Revenge on dvd?

Firstborn should do decent business. If they also bill Robert Downey JR, and Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover.

I also agree with the recent tragic death of Corey Haim, and with Robert Downey JR, & Sarah Jessica Parker now as big time stars, this movie should generate alot of interest. I decided to watch it mainly for Corey, who was soo adorable & great young actor even at this young age.

They've been showing it on Showtime in Sept 2010. It's how I remembered the film when Corey Haim was really young. I had totally forgot about it until its airing.
Your best bet would be to DVDR it.
I was able to download it from warez.bb, it's full screen VHS copy. I think people should be allowed to download it untill it gets an official release hopefully in widescreen

It's on The Movie Channel HD today and again next week. I'm capturing it in 1080i and will dump it to a blu-ray disc. I just hope it's truly an HD broadcast. I'll find out tonight when I get home. A shame this isn't on dvd/blu already. I saw this in the theatres as a kid and had the VHS back in the day.

The full movie is on youtube! I have watched it several times from there. It's a great movie that stuck with me ever since I first saw in back in the 90s.
