Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Heimat: A Chronicle of Germany

I enjoyed this a lot and would be grateful if anyone could recommend a similar series particularly something set between the First and Second World Wars, as that was the period of Heimat I enjoyed best; I would also be really interested if anyone knows of a similar series set in a city, as I'd like to see Germany in that period from that perspective too.
The series doesn't necessarily have to be German any series that's entertaining, factually accurate, and set between the two wars (ideally in a city) would be ideal!
    Thanks very much. 🙂

Not exactly the same, but R.W. Fassbinder's 'Berlin Alexanderplatz' is on the same high level as 'Heimat' - I find them two of the best series ever. It's about Berlin in the interbellum, as you wished.
