Why do they want to get him to Corregan?

What is the point of this? This movie had many unanswered plots - like for instance when john hurt's braddock finds out that the girl knows more english than she admits to. nothing at all escavates from that, and also why terence stamp gets all upset when they don't take him to paris. bizzare. or i have just missed heaps of obvious answers. doubt it though.

I met Terence Stamp at a signing some years back - I have mentioned this elsewhere on this board - he told me Willy has accepted his death but wants to die in front of his ex-boss to show that his dying means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It is not because he expects to be able to escape (which is what I thought initially). Willy knows all along that one day his old cronies will catch up with him for their revenge. He has used his time in Spain to reflect on Life and his place in the universe. His death is inescapable but he has decided to meet it with dignity - he wants to look Corrigan in the eye as he dies. (Ironically, the late Lennie Peters who plays Corrigan was blind - he was a popstar of Peters & Lee fame).

corregan wanted parker brought to him.since it was personal,he doubtless wanted an "i told you i'd get you" possibly followed by some torture.so yes,you did miss heaps of obvious answers.

Was it ever Braddock's assignment to take Willie back to Paris and execute him in front of Corrigan? Or was this Willie's assumption (or shall I say presumption) which neither Braddock nor Myron denied? I thought it was Willie's notion and Braddock and Myron just went along with it. Kind of a way to show that Willie spent the last 10 years building up his ego thinking he was so important that no matter how many years went by, Corrigan would insist upon killing him personally. I thought it was a nice twist that he died on a hill just outside the French border with a punk hoodlum, Myron. Not the pomp and circumstance he had been dreaming about by any means. -

Totally agree with you. It was Parker's conjecture (during an early conversation in the car), which neither Braddock nor Myron confirmed. Disposing him just before crossing the border would be the safest thing to do for a killer, so I think that Braddock wanted to do that all along. However, at that point, he visibly dislikes having to shoot the girl and also "disappointing" Willie, while he in turn is disappointed by Willie's cowardice in the face of death.
