The DVD of this film released in North America through Artisan is awful, plain and simple. Is there a nicely transferred, widescreen release available anywhere? Is there one coming? This is s perfect film for Criterion or even Anchor Bay to pick up.
If either company is reading this, puhleeeeze pick up the rights and release a decent version.

At least the US has a DVD available - we in the UK are still waiting, even though the film features several well known British actors, plus the delectable Laura del Sol. Considering the number and range of DVDs being released now, I wonder if there is some problem with legal or technical aspects which has prevented a UK DVD release. And yes, there is no excuse these days for not releasing any film that was photographed in a widescreen format in the original aspect ratio - that is what DVDs and the anamorphic process were designed for.
BTW - by "clean" are you implying that the US DVD image is not all that great?

I was so excited when the DVD was released only to find out that it's Full Screen with no special features and poor picture quality. I would love to have a widescreen copy of this movie, but I'll have to settle for my worn out VHS.
