I do own 3 kinds of violin: regular, electric, and Baroque, but I have to fix the later 2. I was interested in a Chinese string instrument like the one in the Olympics in Korea; they even sell books on how to play.
I actually like violas a lot and it tempts me some to play but not cellos.
I ended up liking violin. In college, the group string teacher seemed to play out or talk about how prestigious violin is. However, he said people who played other string instruments like viola were smarter.
I kinda ended up not playing partially because I was wondering if I'd like viola better than violin. I felt it was too late, but here I am. That was high school. I'm age 33 years old now.
