Willie Scott is annoying as hell! Ruined the whole movie.

Willie is the BEST Indy girl ! A lot of people complain about her screaming all the time, and being annoying.
I think its unfair : she is indeed a different kind of character, compared to Elsa or Marion. And its nice sometimes to have a change, and to depart from the easy formula.
For once, the girl is not a femme fatale, a double-agent or an adventurer. Willie is a night-club singer, not made at all for that kind of adventure.
And, unlike what is often said about her, she shows guts and courage.
A superficial and selfish person at the beginning, she ends up punching guys, protecting short round and helping the best she can.
Yes, she complains and scream, but she still does the job, joining in this nightmare to help Indy and to free the children.
Its a far more interesting character development and evolution than for Elsa or Marion.
I might add that one of the reason she screams more than the other ladies is because the events of the Temple of Doom ar the most terrifying in the entire franchise. I guess anyone would have shouted as loud as she did. And I guess not everyone would have keep on facing them as much as she did. -

I love Willie, she's funny IMO! I want to further this by asking, why does everyone think Marion is so great? She proved to be as much of, if not more of, a damsel in distress than Willie! She got captured multiple times, or had to be rescued out of some predicament. And became eye candy a couple of times to boot. She was a capable woman, and she drank, so that makes her pretty cool. But she's no less of a damsel (and at times, her screaming/whining got annoying too). With Willie you take a normal woman put into a situation/adventure that's COMPLETELY out of her element! How do you expect her to act? At least with Willie, she goes through a transformation halfway through the movie (after she almost faced a horrible death) and became more caring, helpful, and kind. And she also grew onto Indy and Shorty. I agree that both Marion and Elsa didn't have as much character development. Elsa a little towards the end, tho she reminded me more of Belloq.

This post reminds me of a thread on the Xena Warrior Princess BBS, where some woman said she loved Xena and the show, but hated all the violence and Xena killing/fighting it makes a dude twist his face in perplexity.
It's like saying you love the military but hate the fact that they shoot people. Oh well.
The screams are there because Willy's an urbanized female who's used to posh parties and a degree of opulence and creature comforts. Girls scream. It's what they do. Recall back to your high school and grammar school days. -

It was annoying then, too. -

I find her screaming just extremely taxing to listen to. It literally wears me out. They should have fleshed her character our better with screaming at LIMITED key moments and it would have worked better. All that worrying about her wittul voice in the jungle and yet she screams like a banshee. Stupid.
