A friend of mine has had some brutal cancer treatment and his beard was still ginger in January but now it's completely white. He pretty much said it turned white overnight.

I can understand the follicles getting damaged and changing the pigment on regrowth but I don't understand how it is possible for hair that has already grown to change colour.

Medical issues can cause premature greying, but shock by itself couldn’t do that. It also wouldn’t happen in the blink of an eye. They gave Nancy the gray hair as a remind of the trauma she endured.
What baffles me more is that Nancy has a grey streak in her hair from the first movie. However, the streak is in the right side of her hair, when it was in her left side originally. What’s with this continuity error?

This happened in Twin Peaks too. Laura Palmer's father. His hair turned white overnight.
