    I believe the parlour scene is the most intense ever filmed.
    Its power is extraordinary.
    I cannot think of any monologue even approaching this intensity - Kurtz in Apocalypse Now a distant second IMHO
    This scene us what cinema was invented for.

      I think the scene at the end when Jane is reunited with Hunter in the hotel is the most affective scene ever. I was literally bawling when I watched it for the first time (alone, thank God).

            The parlor monologue was the movie. Everything before that was designed to just lead up to that scene.

                  I thought the parlour scene was to long and it brought the movie down a little, everything up to that scene was ok though
