I've had the HD-DVD for years and the image and sound are amazing. Hopefully they don't screw this up. The special features look interesting but no Diane Lane interview. That sucks.

Unfortunately for those of us who are in the States, it's Region 2.

I have the new Blu-ray and the image quality is actually just as good as the HD-DVD. The new encode has the slight edge, as I noticed one shot on the HD-DVD that had just a bit of artifacting - nowhere to be found on the Blu-ray. Very good transfer. The new sound mix is a step up of course (DTS-HD MA 5.1) but the mix on the HD-DVD was still great (Dolby Digital Plus 5.1) in its own right. Bottom line, the film looks and sounds incredible on the new Region 2 Blu-ray. Hopefully it gets a Region 1 release in the near future.

There is a German bluray release that is apparently Region A compatible and it has even more extras than the UK bluray!

A region 1 release can't be far off maybe Shout Factory will get hold of this one as it has a good cult following.

I watched this last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and in the extras were interviews with Hill, Michael Pare, Amy Madigan and art director James Allen, all of whom were brilliant - interesting and entertaining. I hope these interviews get ported onto any US disc - they are really worth watching. Especially for anyone who thinks there is anything unintentional about this film.
Even though I rented Southern Comfort recently, I think I may buy it, because I didn't watch the Walter Hill interview at the time. He's an interesting fellow.

Been waiting a very long time for this.Hopefully it hits region 1 very soon.Would love to hear a commentary on this film.Would also love to hear Diane Lane and Willem Dafoe talk about the film as well.

I've got this and was a little dissapointed with the picture quality. It's very grainy in places and hasn't been remastered at all. Still a lot better than the DVD but i expected better.
The extras are nice, with the original electronic press kit that was released with the film and all new interviews with Hill, Pare and Madigan. Pare is especially entertaining with his stories about the shoot and seems a genuine nice guy. He even admits it was hard working with Diane Lane because he fell in love with her!
"Perhaps he's wondering why someone would SHOOT a man before throwing him out of a plane"

                            Yes, its a good question
I remember Reading an interview with Diane Lane in 2012, and she said "For years, I would get stopped about Streets of Fire more than anything". I understood this sentence like at the end she was a little fed up with the film. Maybe she hasnt good memories of the film because of this (a good amount of people not focusing in her other interesting films, and only in this particular one..).
For me its obvious that the producers of the BlueRay edition approached her for this project..but maybe theres another different reason who knows?
Anyone know whats her opinin or feelings these days about streets of fire?

I'm guessing she feels the film is beneath her now since she's been in bigger ones.
