No, it should have been rated PG. There's nothing in that film to give it an age restriction. Neither violent nor sexual scenes. The whole American rating system is a big joke.

It feels very PG-13 to me because there's nothing objectionable for children here. Now, about that PG-13 film with the pencil through the eye socket
