In all honestly, I fail to see what the issue was: are you suggesting that programme is lying about his family tree?
I would've agreed with you before DD appeared regularly in EE, but since then, aside from his overwhelming Cockneyness, I've quite warmed to him.

I have done extensive research into my family history and it's not about trying to find out if you're related to the great and the good, it's about learning about history and appreciating where you came from whether your ancestors were rich or poor. You can learn so much.
The problem with WDYTYA is that they pick popular celebs regardless of whether they have any interest in genealogy or not and do all the research for them. And they follow any family line looking for a connection to a famous historical figure, in this case royalty.
The worse bit though was where he found out about his great-grandmother who had given birth prematurely and was charged with covering up the baby's death. It was all about him and how he felt and not about her. And that is him in a nutshell - a self-obsessed tosser. -

So? It's not as if she was summarily hanged for the crime.
