I guess Snarf is the kind of character you either love or hate.
      This is true.
Here's the funny thing; I like Snarf more now than I did when I was a kid. As a kid I hated him but now I find him kind of endearing.

      Now T-Bob was annoying

I kind of liked Snarf since i was a kid and think he's misunderstood.

That's a good point - and let's not forget that Snarf has on more than one occasion saved the other Thundercats' bacon! aside from the obvious ("Snarf Takes Up The Challenge" and "The Crystal Queen"), there's also "Spitting Image" and "Safari Joe", not to mention "Tight Squeeze" and "Trapped"!

Snarf saving the day never felt natural to me. Here's hoping his role is smaller in the remake.

SNARF=80s Jar Jar Binks?! Well, I wouldn't go that far since Snarf didn't inspire such hatred towards the character like this..

                      I loved Snarf!
No one can be as annoying as JarJar Binks though!

Rewatching random episodes of Thundercats lately, somehow Snarf's not quite as annoying as I remember (still annoying but somehow not as annoying). Maybe my heart's softened towards him or maybe I've come to accept him as a necessary evil who in his own weird whiny way adds to the show's retro charm. Still worked better in small doses though.
Jar Jar Binks on other hand is evil.

Why do people hate these kind of characters?

Sometimes the humor provided by such characters can feel out of place, which is why they tend to work better in smaller doses.
