wow you overwhelmed me with your great imagery and way of describing living in the '80s it was a completely different time than nowadays bc everything was so special back then bc everything was so great back then and nowadays i dont see anything special in movies, music, tv shows nothing.
you definitely grew up in the '80s or lived then bc you understand it and have experienced living in it bc if not you couldn't write what you wrote about it that would be impossible unless you are just guessing about how it was.
so now can we finally make public particularly to all the generation y and gen. z kids that today is not half as great as the '80s bc of all the things you described and explained here?
bc a lot of the kids nowadays just think blindly that their music, their movies their tv shows are just as great as all these things in the '80s. they think this bc they don't know that they are wrong and they don't know that the '80s ruled in everything.

well the thing is '80s movies the great '80s movies are always so great that it is immeasurable how great that they are. and you feel it as soon as you start watching a great '80s movie you instantly feel the magic, the power, the specialness it's a physical feeling thing. and as soon as you get to 1990 this feeling start to leave.

The way I would describe itβ¦
..the 'atmosphere' or 'energy' was just such euphoric thing that just existing was pure happiness. It's like the air was filled with some kind of esoteric substance that filled your whole being with some sort of spiritual helium that lifted you off the ground a little bit, making your walk springy and flexible.
It's like a 'sparkling, glittering energy' was all around you, and whatever you did, you brought this sparkling fun with you - if you created a song, this wonderful energy poured into it, so it became this pumping, inspiring, shining thing that could never be replicated in any other era.
Same goes with movies.. nothing can be replicated outside of the eighties, because that 'sparkling energy' is not there. That was the core of what made everything (music, movies, etc.) great!
Without it, it's just like a soulless robot, trying to mimic a human being - you instantly feel something important is missing. It's just not there anymore.
This need to be framed for posterity!
I wish this poster was here. We so could be BFFs!

Me too, there probably isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about something from the 80's. Greatest decade ever. I was the perfect ages, in 80 I turned 7 halfway through the year and by the end of 89 I was 16 & 1/2. My favorite things from the 80's were Transformers and Nintendo but the movies were mostly top notch. So many great ones, when I watch them I get this giant rush of nostalgia. My mom still has the same house, when I go visit it takes me back like a time capsule. Fletch is definitely one of those movies that when I watch it I can remember the age I was and what my life was like then. My favorite thing was not having much responsibility back then. Lol

well i cant ever stop thinking about the '80s great films bc i'm on here at lot talking about movies and i invariably go to these films in my head bc the stark difference in quality of movies nowadays compared to these films is so noticeable. and also i cant ever stop thinking about the '80s great films bc they are so memorable and special to me.
exactly great decade ever and this is not just bc i grew up then it really is the best decade ever bc we had the best music, movies, tv shows, toys, video games and all these were revolutionary in how they changed all these things forever.
oh i so am jealous of you bc you had it the best bc you were 7 in 1980. so many times i have wished i was just about 5 years older than i am now bc i was born in 1978 so i only really experienced the 2nd half of the '80s i wish so bad that i could have really experienced the 1st half of the '80s like you did.
exactly i get taken back in my mind's memory of the feelings of remembrance of watching kickboxer when i watch it as a adult it is one of the films i watched for the first time as a kid so i remember every line, every moment and every scene so clearly in my mind.

Soon we'll be dead. Only them dreams called films remain.
Ain't that a sublime, poetic, pessimistic way of putting things
And them "dreams" that were had in the eighties will never have anything on those bolder, greater, more tragic and yet infinitely more meaningful dreams of films that were had in the seventies either.
Merely the wet dreams one has during the later phases of sleep shortly before being yanked back to the disappointing mundanity of waking life.
Would that those dreams had lasted forever. -

exactly there will never be a time as great as the '80s as far as movies. imagination, creativity, and the people whom made these films like the writers, directors had the crafts for how to do these things down perfectly so they made these flawless amazingly great films.
right and they didn't take themselves so seriously the makers of these films didn't nowadays everyone is way too serious and not as kind or nice.

It was a super fun decade to be a teenager in. People didn't take themselves so seriously back then. Plus there was no PC bullshit stuff like "toxic masculinity" and β gag! β motherfuckin' "white privilege."
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
