LOL soooo true! All I kept thinking about was Beverly Hills Cop or Ghostbusters watching it. LOVED those 80s soundtracks!
And that THEME song!!! Who sung it? It was soooo damn catchy and so 80's I want to find it for my Ipod lol.

Harold Faltermeyer did the score and Stephanie Mills performed 'Bit By Bit'. Also, Dan Hartman performed the 'car chase' song 'Fletch, Get Outta Town'.

The music clearly was sending up Bevely hills cop from the previous year.

That's the reason I came to IMDb to see when this and BHC were released; BHC has been on several times this last week and while watching this one, was surprised at how similar both themes were.

Thankfully no WRETCHED New Kid on the Block were on the soundtrack, this was before their time (YECCCCH!!!).

Probably 'cause it is an 80s movie.

A really bizarre, erratic melody, too, the main theme. Kinda funny, actually. And, yeah, they don't get any more "eighties" than this.

This is the only thing that keeps me from rating this film a TEN!
I'd never want to see this film re-made because no one could ever replicate Chase's performance, but if they could redo the soundtrack so it sounded less '80's' (and I am a total teen/young adult from that era!), it would be to the film's advantage.
Love this film though.it's so hilariously brilliant.

I always thought the Pointer Sisters were on the soundtrack because they were on so many '80s soundtracks. Apparently, I was remembering "Bit by Bit" by Stephanie Mills and Harold F.

Bit by Bit is an unreal main title track.

During the driving scene when Fletch arrives in Utah, "A Letter to Both Sides" is playing by The FIXX on the car radio .
