In the age of pronouns, the sequel would have to play in reverse.
Stuffy Professor: You identify as a girl?
Lead character: No, I am a girl!
    Stuffy Professor: Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

In that time period they probably made it! We don’t need any more ancient sequels. If the movie industry can’t get it together within 5 years then no thanks.

I think a big mockery of then and now could work as a comedy Elle
It was a silly movie then and it would be a silly movie now.
The reasons for why are not too dissimilar for either

It will bomb. My kids loved that movie and watched it many times. 😂

As soon as AI movies can be easily made Elle it's going to be a bike that everybody rides into the ground

As long as sequels follow within a few years of each other I don’t see the problem. AI is the future and people will just have to deal with it.

There are about a dozen or so template stories. Once AI is common they'll be retold in such a variety of ways that we might have to come up with something new and isn't a waste of money to try out

Knowledgeable you are. Yeah there are only so many ways to tell the same story. We’ve been out of stories for years. I find most movies and shows boring.

We'll always find a way. Even if it is a bit rubbish
