Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Just One of the Guys

Joyce Hyser and Bruce Springsteen had a long term relationship prior to this film. His posters are displayed front and center in her character's room huge Born in the U.S.A. cover on the wall behind her bed and another big one to the right.
Born in the U.S.A. hit big in '84 and Just One of the Guys came out in '85. I wonder where they stood with each other by the time the film was released and what Bruce might have thought about the film in general. I never put it together until now because Joyce is so private about everything. Here's a really interesting interview with Joyce from 2010 where she finally sheds some light on her career and her relationship with Bruce

The posters in her room reminded me of Reckless - another great 80s teen film - where Daryl Hannah had Jackson Browne posters in her character's room. Possibly something each actress insisted onI'm a fan of both but seems way more likely a teen girl in the 80s would have a poster Bruce than Jackson Browne though
