Hi, my name is Melanie, and I also love the LadyHawke soundtrack. I especially love the opening song as wellI think it's just called the main title. The music is really hard to findI think the soundtrack might be out of printI bought it used off of Amazon, but the venders there will charge you an arm and a leg for it.

Hello, my name is DDL, and I liked the music fine. Still watching off a 20 year old VHS that has the movie taped off the TV, but besides some damage from magnets, it's in good condition, and it's easy to tell it's a brilliant movie.

I don't mind the music itself, the problem I have is that this music is used for a mid-evil movie. Its like playing smooth jazz for conan the barbarian it just does not fit.

That was my thought when I first heard it back when the movie was first released.
That and the thunderousness of the music over the opening credits! (Those who have only ever watched the movie on DVD or VHS probably don't realise how deafening it sounded in a cinema's auditorium!)
And yet the music grows on you. These days the main title track of "Ladyhawke" is not only one of my favourites I cannot imagine the movie without it. -

I've decided that the opening credit music would be perfect for my life's theme song. Can you imagine walking through the grocery store, picking up an apple and all of a sudden this superawesome synthesizer starts up followed by the string section of the London Philharmonic?
Seriously, I need this music as my ringtone. Anyone know where I can get it? Right now I've got a fuzzy recording from holding the phone up to the TV whilst blasting the music. Sigh. -

TERRIBLE.
It truly detracted from the cinematic experience or simply made one aware that this was merely a fictional farce set in the 13th century created by disco influenced composers of the late 20th century.
All elements of a film should transport the viewer to a time, a place. Unfortunately the score stood out like a sore thumb, reminding us this was just Hollywood's idea of playing pretend.

Thought the music was pretty good as a ten year old kid. Haven't seen the movie in a while. I think that if we got a classical kind of score it would feel awkward as we are all so used to the "disco-medieval" one. Kind of like when we finally got the Jerry Goldsmith score to Legend and were used to hearing Tangerine Dream.

Yes, the music is "pseudo-modern" for the story, but the Phillipe and Isabeau characters seemed oddly contemporary, too. For me, those out-of-time elements added something really special to the overall feel of the movie.
I cherish my vinyl copy of the Ladyhawke OST, but use my CD version for regular (and frequent!) listening. There's nothing more exhilerating than having that Main Title Theme crashing over me as a thunderstorm rages outside.

Hello everyone,
I have a small update on my admission that I loved the music from Ladyhawke.
I walked down the aisle to it a short while ago. Now, much as I would love to admit that I boogied down to the disco medievil I have to confess I chose the music from when Phillipe describes Isabeau.
It's only a minute long and it is a very beautiful orchestral piece and it was perfect. It relaxed me as it reminded me of happy memories and we were in this beautiful church surrounded by gorgeous green hills (no towns or roads nearby) and it was perfect. Also it made everyone cry.
I love the disco bits also but when people think of the music all they think of is the disco bits and not the beautiful instrumentals that are scattered throughout. -

I think that's what movie music SHOULD be like. I like how it dares to take risks, and HUGE risks. Synthesizer can sound god-awful, but taken to the proper extremes (like with Vangelis, Goblin, and Tangerine Dream) it soars! This film made The Alan Parsons Project one of my favorite groups for a while, and listening to "Apollo" and "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" I found to be a similar experience to listening to this movie.
I think the opposite of a lot of people, I think the movie is totally lame, but the MUSIC is EXCELLENT. The only other things worthwhile are all the great cameos by Italian stalwarts like Giancarlo Prete, Venantino Venantini, etc. Hauer is boring, Broderick is annoyingly anachronistic, Ian McKern hams, and Michelle Pfeiffer is not all that. She still leaves a bad taste in my mouth as that unemotional opportunist she played in SCARFACE. -

Maybe that is why I like it so much!
This movie is very special to me, and one of a few that I MUST watch regularly. I wish I had the soundtrack. I've thought of buying a copy and searched for it a couple times but could not find anything, till now and I see the prices are up to almost $60! THAT'S NOT going to happen on MY budget!
But you know what it says to me? For all of those folks who don't like the music, I bet YOUR favorite CDs don't go for THAT much.
Maybe there IS something special about this soundtrack, hmmmmm?
I agree with the comment that the characters are kind of fresh and so the music seems to fit well. Well, that was my thought.
So, I am one of those people who will say it proudly I LOVE The soundtrack to LadyHawke! There, I said it! Now the only thing that would be even better would be to own the soundtracksomeday
