I don't see Fassbender in that role, as I would expect a knight to be bulkier (just imagine the weight they had to carry around with the armour).
Jeremy Renner would be a good idea.
I think Tom Hardy has too much of a boyish charme to him.
My personal favourite would be Richard Armitage.
I could also see Gerard Butler.

I really don't like anyone new in the roles. But everyone the OP suggested would be awful and a pale comparison to Rutger Hauer. I like all those actors in general, but none of them could pull off Navarre. Hauer had the perfect combination of strength with vulnerability, and that's not easy to replicate. Also, Renner and Fassbender are simply too small and not sufficiently rugged-looking to play the role; and Hardy just isn't attractive enough.
Richard Armitage is actually the only suggestion for a recast that hasn't made me want to punch my computer screen. I REALLY don't want a remake, but if it HAD to be remade, he'd do the part justice. And Daniel Radcliffe would do justice to Mouse. And maybe Kiera Knightley as Isabeau (she's the go-to for historical fiction, after all).
But again, I really think the movie was perfect the first time and doesn't need to be remade.

I think Keira Knightly would be a little too tough for the role. Don't get me wrong she is extremely beautiful but not in the way Isabeau should be in my point of view, as Isabeau should have something angelic. I have always pictured Claire Danes or how about Olivia Wilde? Claire Forlaine would also be an idea.

Of those three I would actually go Tom Hardy.
All three have the acting skills to pull it off although Hardy and Fassbender are better.
Hardy just has the serious, vengeful, forlorn expressions that would make the movie work so much better.
              For Isabeau umm not sure.
Somewhere there's a land of peace, acceptance, love, and equality. Pray they don't allow humans.

For Isabeau, how about Margot Robbie of the wolf of wall street?

                  neither!
some films just shouldn't be remade!

Yes, I absolutely agree. The movie doesn't need to be remade because there's nothing to improve - the actors were perfect in their roles, the cinematography was wonderful, and the writing was great.
And none of the actors suggested by the OP would work in the role of Navarre. Hauer had the perfect combination of acting ability and physicality. Jeremy Renner is like 5'5" - he'd be absurd.

Oh man! To cast for Nav and Isa beep I want to see a prequel of their story before the cures so badly. Just hope it won't be butchered like the Ghostbusters film (saw that last week and regret it). Anyway I would love to see someone (two people) worthy of these characters that I am mad about. All three of these guys might be perfect just hope they are tall enough, built right and have what Rutger Hauer had.
Isa casting is tough, beauty maybe asked for but talent is hard to find.
