Prequel?

Who needs a prequel once you know what has happened? Also, one of the most magic charms of many (if not majority) movies is to slowly reveal the secrets of the events leading to its plot. If this is too complicated for somebody, he should keep his eyes on straight lined action movies van Damme and Bruce Lee style.
I don't know what started this prequel hysteria. Is it because the audience's level of understanding can't cope with movie stories as people of decades before managed to do without a problem? Or because the age of movie consumers became so young and they need younger heroes to identify with? Is this why we were given Young Indiana Jones (and even Tom and Jerry Kids)? Well, if someone isn't old enough for mature Indiana Jones (what age is it anyway, kindergarten?), or needs a whole movie to explain Star Trek, Planet of Apes, Twin Peaks, Cube etc, he probably should wait till gets mature enough himself, and watch Teletubbies first, then move to Tom Sawyer and Astrid Lindgren's works, and let those who are still able to walk and breath without help of machines to enjoy the art made for their age and I.Q. level.
I just expect that one day somebody asks a prequel for The Bible to be made. You know, what happened before that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" -

I wouldn't mind a prequel. However, I would like a short by a young Philippe before he became a thief or at least before he was captured and sent to the prison. Just a short one though.

Philippe's past could be included in the prequel. Maybe he crossed paths with some of them and none remember it.

I think a prequel would be totally uninteresting - as is generally the case with direct prequels. We know how the story ends, so for all the characters we care about from Ladyhawke, we know they survive. So there's no real tension.

I would love to see a prequel of how Navarre and Isabeau meet and fall in love, how the Archbishop tried to win her but failed and seeing a sad ending with the pair become what they became. It would also give us an idea of how long the lovers have been under the curse.
