I think all the actors are great in this, butJeff Daniels is brilliant in his ability to fill out all the nuances of these two overlapping but very different characters.

He's a very underrated actor for sure. He's also really great in Jonathan Demme's Something Wild.

Jeff Daniels was terrific as both the dashing and ridiculously decent Tom Baxter and the equally charming, but egocentric actor Gil Shepherd.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
