At that point, Paden had lost interest in Hannah because, as he tells Emmett, she has "a hard idea for living", while I'm sure that Paden is interested in a more sedentary way of life.

What struck me when watching it again last night is that she seems more interested in Emmet. Remember the final scene when she shows up to ask him if he was coming to say goodbye? She tells him something to the effect of "if you come back, you know where I'll be." On the other hand, she tells Paden during their scene about how she wants to live, and seems to discourage him. So I think she kinda was smitten by Emmit even before her husband was killed.
What happened between her and Emmet at the barbeque? Must have been more than we were shown.

I played Conrad (her husband) and unfortunately there were a couple of scenes we/she shot (and/or were scripted but never got shot) that never made the final cut.

It's cool that you posted on the topic. I know it's six years after your post, but if you do see this, would you be allowed to elaborate on those cut or unfilmed scenes?
Nice job with your role of Conrad, by the way.

This is pretty typical on movies.
This was already a very long film (as films go) and they had a huge cast.
Of course everyone wants their scenes to stay in, but that's show biz.
I only can speak of the deleted scene I shot with Rosanna.
It was on the wagon, and I really don't remember much else.
It was just us talking about the trip to Silverado.
I can understand why the cut it out.

@raw_rustymeyers once again, I'm years in responding to one of your posts. Thank you for recollections. Of course, considering IMDB's recent announcement of nuclear annihilation of the message boards, contributions from insiders such as yourself will now be lost. Sad.

Paden was obvioulsy interested in Hannah Conrad. However I get the sense that Paden realized that Hanna was not as interested in him as she was in Emmett. Perhaps Hannah gave Paden the impression she was looking for someone a little more settled , a little more reliable that a Saloon keeper.
Thus the dialogue in the Saloon, "If you were to visit her, you won't find me in the way."
Emmett seemed more like the loner which could be attributed to his desire to get out to California. He had after all been in prison for 5 years.
If the rest of the story were to play out, I would hope to see Jake and Emmett return, Emmett becomes a rancher with Hannah, taking over the now abanddoned cattle ranch. Jake becomes a deputy for Paden.
If you watch the final scenes, the blonde Saloon girl who was on the porch with Paden and Hannah (Standing between them) gives a semi furtive look at Paden and Hannah before stepping back so they could stand closer together.
Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I'd hate to start smacking you like I do DiNozzo.

Has 3rd billing in this film (Kline, Glenn, Arquette, Cheese, Costner, Dennehy, Glover, Goldblum, Hunt) but Linda Hunt gets more screen time. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching Hunt whenever she turns up but it's a pity Arquette's role was so cut down.

I agree. I thought her relationships with Emmot and Passenger was weak. She seemed to be more if a dream figure to the men until they realized she wanted to settle down again (she was a widow, after all) and do the hard work of scratching out a homestead.
Linda Hunt won an acting Oscar a couple of years before for aher role in A Year of Living Dangerously. Her role put her in the thick of the events in the town of Silverado.

I happened to have played her husband (Conrad) and her role kept getting cut. Which needless to say she didn't appreciate. I didn't have much choice since I was extremely unknown and just had to bite the bullet. Which my character did literally. However at the time she was more well known than most everyone else in the cast.
