I think the idea was she would die of hypothermia from the cold air coming in.

That'd never work on me as I'm a furnace.

Yeah - a 'suicide attempt' by sitting (with clothes on) in the middle of a spacious room with a single window open. Yep, certain death. Hell, she would've starved to death before she froze to death.
Overall I can't help but enjoy this movie whenever it's on but the 'drama' of the 'suicide attempt' is pretty much laughable.

Would they bury her in a pink casket?
Though if you think about it, this movie would have taken a really dark turn if they showed up at her place to find Jules' brains all over the Billy Idol mural.
Maybe it would have been a setup for a second movie about how the gang reacts.

It's so Joel Schumacher can have a scene with dramatically flowing window curtains like he did in all his movies at the time. St. Elmo's, Lost Boys, Flatliners, etc.
When there's no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

She was depressive and suicidal, yes, but she did not try to actively commit suicide by sitting in a drafty room, don't be daft.
