That's the thing. Women used to look womanly back then. Today they look girlish, and producers keep casting protagonists that look like boys and girls, instead of mature-looking men and women who appear prominent and brooding and formidable in their roles.
It's an idiotic trend that has taken over in the last ten years or so. I remember they were considering a
Wonder Woman
film around 2005. Kim Basinger was a possible name. But someone said that she likely would not get chosen because they did not want a Wonder Woman who looked that womanly.
Even today's costumes and makeup jobs attempt to make the actor or actress look totally different from what they could look if the production was going in the right direction.
Linda did not look 40. She looked like a grown and beautiful woman
should
look.
