Imagine it, your son goes missing 8 years ago and you assumed him dead, he randomly shows up 8 years later looking like a 12 year old still and this whole crazy **** happens and then bang, David is gone again just like that?

Also, what happens when Max goes back in time to deliver the other creatures he had taken? does Earth time go back again also?
How did this alien know what power connecters and flowers are but did not understand promises or going to the bathroom?
Why were the NASA guards more interested in reading a ****ing BOOK than keeping an eye on the first known spacecraft to land on earth? wouldnt your eyes be glued to the ship??
why did NASA just allow some airheaded teen intern access to David when his own parents were banned from seeing him? -

Why is there seemingly a planet in the universe that is made up of giant eyeballs that shout " EYE EYE EYE " over again? like what ****ing evolution chain did THAT spring from? does that mean there are giant humans out there in space somewhere or just random giant human eyes?
Why did Max seem to have the ability to understand the language of that little alien thing but not the ability to communicate with it? -

There are indeed a lot of unanswered questions here for a sequel to clear up. Perhaps one of these ‘soft reboots’ that seem to be popular at the multiplex’s these days. David’s son goes for a ride around with Max…so it’s kind of the same plot but it is a sequel too because look David is in it all grown up!!

The David actor has cleaned his act up in recent years and has started acting again so it could easily happen now.

Think about this: the only reason things were the way they were in 1986 was because David had been gone, and many sad things had happened to his family, including his brother having to grow up with the guilt of possibly making his older brother disappear, and his parents suffering similar guilt and sadness for the same reason.
I'm guessing that when David went back to 1978, everything that had happened in the original 8-year timeline where he was gone was obliterated. So now, because he was able to get back to his family safe and sound, I think there will be a much happier 1986 for that family with the new timeline.
