a good reason why they vote it so low might be because the movie is just not that good. i gave it a 5/10 and i'm male the movie stems from a time where the soviet union made its own history and the latter claimed that it liberated east germany. so a movie had to be as negative towards the nazis as possible, even if it bordered on idiocy. the latter is the case with this movie. while its expressionistic first half certainly looked promising, it all fell apart with the ridiculous depiction of the germans.
the director showed a vast lack of knowledge about german troops and history. the movie plays in 1943, a time when the war went pretty bad for the germans. supplies were rare, but in high demand, yet you see them waste ammo, fuel and a lot of time. this is as unrealistic as it could be. another cringe-worthy scene is the one where the whole platoon applauds the burning shed i mean come on it couldn't get any more stupid. in fact, the portrayed discipline of the germans resembled more that of russian soldiers and i don't think that anyone wants to argue about how disciplined german soldiers were.
i expected something terrifying, mind-boggling and disturbing. what the movie finally offered was cliched, propagandized content in an interesting cinematic approach. as far as disturbing (anti)-war movies go this one has nothing on platoon, schindler's list or stalingrad
