Question about the ending

So, were both times real, were both time dreams, or was one time real and one time a dream?
Also if the second time was real, what did he see in his parents room that made him scream like that?

in the original the first time, or the entire movie, is a dream, and then real when the spaceship lands. this one had an ending that was a bit confused.
