I always wondered what kind of relationship Terry and Jack ended up having after all the choas was over. Was it romantic or just a great friendship.
Just curious what everyone's opinion is.

Not so sure - he didn't stay with the classy ex (Sinai Sarah) after all. I think the hints were there all through the movie that they would end up together, think it was the underlying message of the movie really there wouldn't have been a whole lot of point in having the sweet talk that was going on, Jack's voice was always dead sexy and that kiss on the hand at the end was pure romance. Loved it!

It's pretty obvious Terry has a major crush on Jack. I'm sure he indulged it at dinner with plenty of compliments maybe even gave her a sweet kiss at the end before he returned to England. And that's just the confidence boost (along with her promotion) Terry needs to go out a find the man who's truly meant to be her soulmate.
Just my humble opinion -

Nah, I don't think that would completely scuttle their relationshipespecially considering he IS a Stones fan and the mid 1980s was when all the dirt really started to come out about the royal family - like Prince Andrew dating Koo Stark. Besides, with his position he might be privvy to more dirty laundry.
I always thought it had great possibilities. She did risk her life for him, after all.

He would be eternally grateful, since she did save his life! They probably dated a while, and remained friends. He still had the apartment in NY, so he was only in London as a stop-over to meet the queen (he was in Europe) and on the way home, to NY.
Love this movie! -

Just watched this recently again and loved the post from lainy926. Perfect answer. He will have been the major excitement and memory of her life, but they really have nothing else in common. A friend whenever in need is what I surmised.

I dunno, I think they were bound to be romantically involved. It's something quite intimate when you risk your life for someone. Maybe it didn't last because he had to go back to GB, but either way, I think they at least shared a few passionate kisses

As for Jonathan Pryce- he is handsome too, they just didn't show him well in this movie. In "Something Wicked this Way Comes" he had a beard & more hair and was as yummy looking as sounding. -

Are you kidding? It was definitely romantic!! Early on in the movie, Terry's watching that romantic B&W movie and you could just see the longing in her eyes for something similar. Then later when her slutty co-worker is talking about relationships, Terry says that she's "involved" she's already creating the fantasy. My guess is that Jack and Terry didn't even make it through the lunch (that's where they're going as the credits roll, right?) before rushing into a bathroom stall and getting busy!

Yeah, this is an old post but when I watched this as a child I just KNEW Terry and Jack ended up together. I haven't seen it in years but I recall there was a woman who either got jealous or thought Terry would be good for Jack. Watching it now Whoopie was really looking good.

Can't say I find Whoopi attractive in any way, shape or form, but then again, Jonathan Pryce isn't too die for looks wise. His voice, howeverlove it! Incredible voice and added the mystery and sexy quality to Jack. You wanted to see him from the moment he spoke his first lines. Not knowing Jonathan Pryce prior to this movie, I was surprised that he looked totally different than what I expected. While he isn't handsome, he did come across as suave.
The movie seemed to leave their relationship up for grabs. She saved his life, when others would have left him for dead. So they would have had to have a very strong bond. They had already tackled trust, obedience, commitment and support without having physically met.
I think romance was in the air, if not forever, then at least dating. Terry Dolittle certainly had a crush on Jack from the sound of his voice and the more she learned of him as she went about trying to help him get back to his home and out of danger. And I think it was obvious Jack cared about her as the movie progressed and she followed through and became his only lifeline.
In a perfect world, culture doesn't matter and Terry Dolittle and Jack became friends, lovers and finally a happily married couple with little future spies running around. But it really wouldn't have changed anything if they simply ended up friends with an incredible bond that lasted throughout their lifetime, even as they went their separate paths in life.
I definitely think this movie ranked much higher than it was given. I am not a big comedy fan, but I found this thoroughly enjoyable and have watched it quite a few times. -

I doubt it would have been romantic.
Terry helped Jack and he was appreciative of it and wanted to extend this to her at the end.
The film does have some funny moments, but on repeat viewings, I don't find it holds up as well as
Burglar
or
Fatal Beauty
the following year. It is too soft at its core.
