        Dude.. stop and think.
        How could "Jumpin' Jack Flash" be a prequel to "Telephone" when the names of the main characters are completely different?
        JJF = Terry Doolittle
        TP = Vashti Blue
        and Olivia
        So it wasn't what you expected from Whoopi. The GOOD actors try real hard not to get typecast. Whoopi was trying new things. If you didn't like it, fine but have some respect for an actress who can be more than one person.
        Personally, I thought Telephone was pretty damn clever. The surprise at the ending really got me.

            I like Whoopie, well, her earlier stuff like JJF, but I didn't like the telephone either and I don't see how it's disrespectful to say so. Just because you like an actor doesn't mean you like every movie they do.

                I always wanted to see this as a prequel or sequel to Burglar. Whoopi's character in each is very similar with a lot of similar scenes. I know her name is different in Burglar, but hell, maybe when she went straight or started the life of crime she changed her name for confedentiality, lol
                Question your prejudices.

                    HAHA
                    I just always thought Burglar and Jumpin' Jack Flash had as similar feel to them.
                    And I do mix up scenes from the 2, like the scene where she's in the office and gets her dress sheded and ends up on the roof, for the longest time I thought that scene was from Burglar. It's certainly a scene that would fit in with Burglar.
                    And there similar scenes, like in JJF when Teri goes to Jack's house and listens to his messages on the answering machine, In Burglar there's a similar scene where she breaks into the guys house and listens to his answering machine.. THere are several "Burglar-type" scenes in JJF lol
                    I think a movie would be good where Teri meets Bernice 🙂
                    Any way they are 2 of my favorite Whoopi movies.

                      @toking65000 You're the not the only one who mixes the movies up. JJF's Rotten Tomatoes page
                      http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/jumpin_jack_flash/
                      lists Bobcat Goldthwait as a cast member, when he was actually in
                      Burglar

                        HEHE I'm glad I'm glad I'm not the only one lol
                        Yes that was another thing, for the longest time, I thought Bobcat Goldwait was in Jumpin Jack Flash, I wanted to think he was helping Terri try to solve the whole Jack caper lol.
                        So lets see, she was up on a roof in both movies,
                        In someone else's apartment, listening to the answering machine messages in both movies, while trying to retrieve something valuable out of the apt.
                        There was a similar ditzy secondary female character in both movies. Terri's co-worker at the bank in JJF, and Johnny's ex girlfriend in Burglar.
                        Similar lines:
                        Terri in JJF: What do you mean he's dead??! You mean dead DEAD?!
                        Bernice in Burglar: I've seen dead ppl and this guy was BEYOND dead!!!
                        I thought Whoopi was a little bit feistier in JJF, and more mellowed out and laid back in Burglar.
                        Anyway a lot of times I like to look at Burglar as a sequel to JJF!
                        Create a society in which you would like to live, not knowing what you're going to come into it as.

                          And I might add her character ih Ghost is definitly not the same, seeing as how she said she knew NOTHING about banking lol

                            I always liked to pretend Jumpin' Jack Flash was a sequel to THE COLOR PURPLE. You know, like Celie finds a time machine and arrives in present-day New York, and the movie picks up a year after she's arrived. So she's had time to get a job and an apartment and make some friends.
                            That part where she's stomping down the street to find a payphone after her boss yells at her It woulda been so perfect if she grumbled, "First my mom dies, then I have two babies and get married off to some guy who beats me for 20 years and hides my sister's letters, and NOW I gotta find some damn payphone on my lunch hour?!"
