Uh, sorry, I don't really see why it would be a problem. Could somebody explain what the problem is? I don't think the filmmakers should have to bend over backwards just to be all politically correct just to appease the people who would get their panties in a twist if the gender or race of the characters is changed.

Oh no, another of these people that want a black James Bond, Peter Parker, Batman, Superman, and JFK.
Fictional characters should, within reason, be treated like historical figures.
        Don't swap ethnicities.
        Don't make black The Honeymooners.
        Don't make white Good Times.
        It's unnecessary.
And why do black people always have to be the default when a white character is changed?
To make more money than would be made by making Batman Inuit or Croatian?

The movie Bubba-Ho-Tep had a black character in it, who claimed to be JFK.

I know that there's a stigma attached to remakes (unfairly, in my opinion), but this is such a silly thread. It's silly to assume that they would cast a black actress, but at the same time, it's silly to even care if they do, in my opinion. Unless the color or ethnicity of the character is an important aspect of the storyline in someway, then it doesn't matter what they are in the remake.
There are good remakes and bad remakes, based on our own individual opinions, but I think it's a very myopic view to assume a remake's going to be bad just because it's a remake, because there are some that can be a very good tribute to the original and some that can easily standout as their own thing. In fact, sometimes they can even be better.
When someone creates a remake, they have the right to make it as close to the original or as far away from the original as they want to, because it's
                  their
version. That said, I highly doubt they intentionally decide to change the ethnicity of the characters, but rather cast whoever seems right for the part. The only time they don't I would assume is when the remake is made with a particular actor or actress in mind.

I don't see the problem with it. Sarah's race isn't a major factor in the story so why does it matter what race she is in the remake/reboot/whatever?

Yes, there is nothing in the story against it. No history or ethnic related fact that would make it necessary for her to have a specific skin color.

Sarah is a spoiled WASP, who always expects to get her way, so yes she should be white.

No. None of that was essential to the character.
So many stories, so little time.

                            Why would that matter?
