Pretty sure they're in talks with a black transexual Muslim for the sequel

Sadly, this is all too possible.
"But why is that a problem?!"
For the same reason people would hate a white Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

^ Thank you. It's bad enough they're remaking Rocky horror with a black transgender woman as Frank n furter.

I'm not really against the idea of changing races or sexes in remakes and don't mind black Hermione as that is a theatre show and not meant to be affiliated with the films but the idea of Laverne Cox playing Frank just won't work imo. She's a good actress from what I've seen on Orange is The New Black and seems a nice enough person, but Frank is a transvestite. Laverne is a transsexual. I know some people will say that it doesn't matter but it's a very big part of the character.

Well first off, very few characters comparatively are black, so it's quite different to change one of the few popular minority characters into a white person. Second, it was a part of the character to focus on race. There's nothing about Sarah that make it unbelievable for her to be another race.
I hope you'll come to realize that is the dumbest way to make an argument and learn something from this.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Um, no, not at all. That'd be wrong because his race played a role in who the character was.
Sarah's race had no bearing on her character at all. So her being black in a remake is not an issue unless racists make it an issue.
              Let's be bad guys.

But the Fresh Prince is Will Smith's stage name. In that way, its not a fictional character but an alias for a real-life person. It would be like having an Asian Freddie Mercury or male Hannah Montana. Plus the whole concept of the show was him coming from "the hood" to live in an affluent neighborhood but I suppose that concept could work for a white character, I don't care.
I get what you're trying to say, but it's not comparable to taking a completely fictional work and fictional character and making him or her a different race.
I also don't get why we have to operate on a strictly black/white dichotomy. There are other ethnicities out there. Unless we're representing real-life personalities I really don't care about the race of the character as long as the suit the role.

Uh, sorry, I don't really see why it would be a problem. Could somebody explain what the problem is? I don't think the filmmakers should have to bend over backwards just to be all politically correct just to appease the people who would get their panties in a twist if the gender or race of the characters is changed.

Oh no, another of these people that want a black James Bond, Peter Parker, Batman, Superman, and JFK.
Fictional characters should, within reason, be treated like historical figures.
                      Don't swap ethnicities.
                      Don't make black The Honeymooners.
                      Don't make white Good Times.
                      It's unnecessary.
And why do black people always have to be the default when a white character is changed?
To make more money than would be made by making Batman Inuit or Croatian?

I know that there's a stigma attached to remakes (unfairly, in my opinion), but this is such a silly thread. It's silly to assume that they would cast a black actress, but at the same time, it's silly to even care if they do, in my opinion. Unless the color or ethnicity of the character is an important aspect of the storyline in someway, then it doesn't matter what they are in the remake.
There are good remakes and bad remakes, based on our own individual opinions, but I think it's a very myopic view to assume a remake's going to be bad just because it's a remake, because there are some that can be a very good tribute to the original and some that can easily standout as their own thing. In fact, sometimes they can even be better.
When someone creates a remake, they have the right to make it as close to the original or as far away from the original as they want to, because it's
                                their
version. That said, I highly doubt they intentionally decide to change the ethnicity of the characters, but rather cast whoever seems right for the part. The only time they don't I would assume is when the remake is made with a particular actor or actress in mind.

I don't see the problem with it. Sarah's race isn't a major factor in the story so why does it matter what race she is in the remake/reboot/whatever?

Yes, there is nothing in the story against it. No history or ethnic related fact that would make it necessary for her to have a specific skin color.

No. None of that was essential to the character.
