I am just back from a trip to London and saw in the Beauchamp tower some prisnor carvings all over the walls..There is a spot that has Jane marked in the wall. and you can see Tower Green from the window. Hard to imagine standing there watching a scaffod being built for you.

Indeed. I read a novel once where a condemned man heard what you describe
and said,"I will close my ears to the hammerings that build my doom and
remember instead the voices of those I have loved." I thought that was very nice. -

In Jane's case, yes, but if you remember, only seven people were executed on the Tower Green, including Jane, Anne Boleyn, and Catherine Howard. The rest were executed on Tower Hill.
I found that mark to be incredibly moving, and it has stayed with me since then. -

I have recently returned from the Tower of London and i asked a question to one of the beefeaters. There is no historical evidance that Jane nor Guilford carved that name into the wall. The words from the beefeater is that it could have been a supporter of janes, or Jane Bolyn who was the Countess of Rochford or it could have referred to Jane Seymour as her broher was Thomas Seymour who was beheaded and held there.
