Fave for me once was truck from "Duel".
When I finally saw MO my choice became Gas Station Tow Truck.
Air starter just sends chills and something bad is about to happen.
With all of the trucks used in this film, there had to be others somewhere of the same year, make, model even though they might be hooked to trailers of some sort. If you see any, please note time in movie where it appears. Thanks!
BTW Flatbed chasing newlyweds is second choice.

        I agree with the OP.
Although the "Duel" truck was certainly menacing, there is something spooky about the gas station Tow-Truck that is possessed. Even after the Tow-Truck was stuck, it tried to remove itself knowing that Curtis was still alive by wheel-spinning to try to get itself out and kill him.
Oh and yes, that air-starter ignition sounded creepy.
        So certainly the truck "here."

Folks say the same about the Australian R-Model Mack tractor from 'The Road Warrior' that also had the air starter. Associate those air starters with a possessed truck and, yes, they're haunting.
It's like a possessed engine, coughing to life. The short-nosed Corn-Binder wrecker was a haunting beast; it had surely smashed that young mechanic, and it was ready to silence Yeardley Smith.
I grew up on a far, and I know why we call most mighty International Harvesters 'Old Slow Binders.'
