Stand By Me by far. The characters are more relatable and the plot is more realistic. I had to read the Outsiders and watch the movie in 7th grade, and I didn't really like it. I can't really explain why. I liked the character of Ponyboy but that was it.

I really liked The Outsiders but between the two, Stand By Me wins by a long shot. Stand By Me really connects with its viewers and relates to them on a deep, personal level. The Outsiders is well made but I felt it was a little too style over substance to really be a great film.

Stand By Me.
The Outsiders was kind of cheesy, on multiple viewings, though the book was much better. In its defense, however, the author was only 16 when she wrote it (18 when it was published), and for her age, it was phenomenal. King was already a seasoned writer when he wrote "The Body."
