Frankly, Wheaton is what, pushing 50 now? He should get over it. If there was no sexual abuse and he wasn't beaten, it's in his interest to come to terms with his parents.
I mean, look, he had a great role in Stand by Me and then Star Trek. So his parents did something for him.
He's too old to be playing the victim at this point.

How come he doesn't get the praise and admiration that River gets when Will is just as good and they play off of each other perfectly?
Why does Wil get so overlooked for his excellent role in this movie?

Phoenix had a stronger screen presence and charisma. He was a better looking kid too.
I think he got the plug because of this advantage and Hollywarped loved to groom and mould young stars into what they wanted to use as a box-office draw card.
