with Hollywood remaking everything I'm surprised they haven't touched this one.
sure it's a great movie but I'm 33 and I can't relate to anything they mentioned about the 50s.
wouldn't mind seeing a remake set in the 80s, NO chicks though like Ghostbusters.
but don't call it Stand by Me, call it what the novel was called 'The Body'
Stephen King movies do get remade, it would be interesting to see. -

no need to be rude c___
I hate remakes too but would be interesting to see, they've basically remade most of the 80s hit films.
this ain't no Ghostbusters pal, don't be so sensitive.
they are remaking Stephen King's IT being set in the 80s instead of the 50s like the original. -

I was 12 when this movie came out. Having been born in the '70's, I couldn't "relate" to the '50's either, but why do you have to? I could relate to being a 12-year-old kid having adventures with my friends over the summer, and that was enough for me. I don't get why a movie has to be set in a time period you grew up in in order for you to relate to it. That's boring to me. The time period this film is set in is one of the keys to its magic, and the movie is wonderful just the way it is. No one needs to remake it so that millennials feel a special connection to it - let them make an original movie set in the 80's. This film is not to be fcked with.
The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it. -

Noooo! Do not remake it. Hollywood would for sure mess it up.
And if they did remake it, I doubt they would call it "The Body". The first time around, they changed the title to "Stand By Me" because the studios thought "The Body" was a bad, misleading title. Some people thought it was either a porno or a slasher when they first heard it.
