I still feel like Gordie sometimes, unsure of the future even as I'm an adult. That sounds weird yet I know I'm not alone there.
No you're definitely not alone. Actually it doesn't sound weird at all. One of my favorite lines of the movie was at the beginning with the narration saying that it happenned in 1959 "a long time ago, but only if you measure in terms of years"
    Mr. Grady, you
    were
    the caretaker here.

I'd like to say a combination of all of them. I was never into sports, had a brother who was a really popular athlete, I enjoy reading and writing; so I'm Lachance in those ways. I came from an alcoholic family and I thought I was going to end up like them, and I was always kind of the peacekeeper in our group of friends; so Chris. As a preteen, I was overweight and was the but of a lot of jokes from my "friends"; Vern. TeddyWell, not so much I guess. We all have our Teddy moments though.

But, this wasn't really a question, was it?

i identified a lot with teddy. im reckless and angry and people think im strange. its actually rare for me to identify with someone this much. i find it easier to relate to kids though, haha. but whatever. i think one of the great things about this movie is how everyone can relate to at least one of the kids. nice thread good stuff.

I wish I could say I was most like Chris, but realistically I'm kind of if Gordie's personality had a baby with Vern's. Calm and creative, but sometimes lacking common sense. 🙂

Gordie's creativity and bookworm, Vern's naivette, and Teddy's volatility, tho' I oddly have had exactly two Chrises in my life.

I agree with you on Gordie. When I was younger, he was everything I was. I think today as I am a 30 year old male, I still familiarize with the Gordie character amongst not only in my social group, but family and my work environment as well.

I was a combination of Gordie and Vern. I was shy, bookish, sensitive, etc. but I was also a scaredy cat and pudgy. I wasn't as feeble minded as him, but certainly as much of a wuss lol.

I'm most like Gordie, no doubt. A slight touch of Chris (leadership qualities), a bit of Vern (innocent humour), and not much of Teddy to speak of.
That's one of the strengths of the film, though. The characters are so well-drawn from real life that everyone can see a bit of themselves or someone they know in each of them.
Growing up in a small country town (as I did), my friends and I WERE those kids. Camping out, going on adventures, feeling misunderstood by out parents, dealing with older/tougher/dumber kids, it was all there.
