    Do you miss NextGen?
Would it have been better to continue after NectGen with a new crew and handoff by the old new guys of NextGen? Maybe include Wesley as chief science officer or as first mate?

To me any original idea would be better than the slop dished out in JJ Trek it's just getting worse with each new movie.

Yes, I miss TNG more than anything to do with TOS.

They should do another reboot where the timeline Nero screwed up gets fixed by David Hassellhoff, and, continue with the NextGen guys passing off the reins to a new crew. Directed by the guys from South Park. I'm only half kidding but the plot might work. If directed by anyone but JJ.

LOL. Wesley as chief science offer and Sheldon (Big Bang Theory) reports to him. 😉

TNG is the best. I'd see a movie of those guys right now.

                    Ya. I agree.
It's terrible that they killed off all the Star Trek characters and spin offs prior to the new reboot movie as time got changed by Nero when he came back in time, killed Kirk's dad, and, destroyed Vulcan / the Vulcan people.
They should have accepted the great legacy of Star Trek and built on it, instead of abandoning it entirely to start over.

All things indeed have to end eventually and it was a very good run (although certainly deteriorating by the end).
I'm certainly glad the TV series ended rather than continuing with some or all different characters.

We are actually talking about the movies. But what you are saying about TV shows is true. It would have been nice to see another TV show continue from next gen and those characters hit the big screen eventually.
They had a perpetual formula for the franchise and took the easy reboot route instead and got one good new origin movie, a reboot of Khan and a terrible third film already!
You don't see doctor who rebooting the sixties doctor? No, move on with new doctors.
They should have continued next gen into a next next gen.

I liked Jordie. He could come back as the Federation's Reading Rainbow Ambassador to the planet of hairless Pandas.

It's time for a whole new series (let's just hope the new series will be any good).
The TNG crew are all in their 60's and 70's by now. They are too old.
I'm just on my way up to Clavius.

At certain moments I miss it but to me it is a snapshot of it's time and it reminds me of those years.About a reboot well to be honest like I said it was very much a product of it's time and the same premise wouldn't work nowadays TV tastes have changed considerably during the last 20-30 years and audiences have become more demanding so they would have to had radically changed the reboot for it to be successful to warrant the costs in producing it that fans of TNG wouldn't recognise it as TNG anymore.

Plus people want more realism. To do that they'd have to make all the characters Chinese because they will take over by the time we explore space if our atmosphere doesn't disappear first due to our magnetic field changing.
I'm just being silly. Or I am correct.
The next Data should be played by a CGI Donald Trump Cyborg?

Well you have to admit the TNG films did their best to achieve that so.

Well to be fair partially Kobi,First Contact was a very good Trek movie(besides some minor details)and Nemesis was a decent movie, that with some rewriting could have been a very good Trek movie (heard they cut out some more character moments from the film to make it have more action(although I would have replaced the Picard dune buggy part for a simple beaming up of the B4 parts and fill in the remaining time with those character moments,I think would have made for a more balanced movie)and if they changed the main Villain into Crosby's Romulan antagonist where there is an opportunity for Picard to convince Shinzon that he is being misled and used by Crosby's character this could have made for a wonderful plot twist also making a perfect tie in with the TNG series. They even could have Picard and shinzon joining up together(father and clone) to fight of Crosby when she is trying to destroy Picard and Earth. If they had gone along that path I think Nemesis could have been regarded as TNG's finest movie, but besides that it is still a fairly good movie despite it's heavy leanings towards TWOK.
The other two are the proverbial nails in the coffin of the franchise and I would even rate them lower than STV(although I must admit I am biased towards TOS)to me it has enough redeeming qualities to make it a decent and pleasant watching experience while with the other two TNG movies I will occasionally cringe.
The problem with the TNG movies is that in that era was the coming up of more big dumbed down action blockbuster movies with which trek had to compete with to earn back it's investments. Therefore the TNG movies are very unlike the series they spawned from, where we can conclude by stating that Roddenberry's original premise for TNG was a thing that turned out to be the TNG movies main disadvantage with the more cerebral, peaceful, and less action based premise that had to compete with violent, action and FX's driven shlock of those days.
So what we see with the TNG movies is a balancing act between the more TNG series like influence(for the Trekkies) and the heavy action,FX's filled shlock of the period(to draw in the non-Trekkies for balancing the books). In some movies they find that balance (FC,NEM) in the other two cases they don't where you can actually see the movie struggling to make up it's mind whether it will be more TNG like or more action like.
