I can't believe that when I watched this the first time, it
genuinely
did not click who his employer was. The name
really
did not come together for me. Looking back, it's
so obvious
, I can't understand how I
didn't
get it.
Rourke played it so subtle and even stoic at times, so in-the-moment, that when the ending concluded, the sheer surprise looked authentic.
By the way, I can't remember if it was this movie
or another one
, but wasn't there a rather barbaric scene involving a woman's curling iron?

I might be thinking of another movie, but the actual curling iron scene is pretty unforgettable. I may have just sort of melded it in with
Angel Heart
for some reason, but I'm not sure. It's not a scene one forgets, that's for sure.
It might have even been another movie with Mickey Rourke in it or another similar movie with the same type of setting.
PS:
I just looked it up and it was
Sleepaway Camp
. I wasn't even close to thinking it was
Angel Heart
! Not even a little bit close! Bad Lilith! Bad,
bad
Lilith!
Funny thing is,…. I sincerely
don't even remember watching Sleepaway Camp
and I
don't remember any of the scenes or even the trailer.
Nothing about it looks familiar to me. Maybe it's a trope used in other movies as well because I'm not convinced that was the movie I saw this in.
