Nosferatu, the many Dracula films, Let the Right One In, Fright Night, Near Dark, Interview with the Vampire, etc everybody's got a different pick.
For me, it's definitely The Lost Boys. I am a fan of other vampire movies (Interview with the Vampire & Horror of Dracula are two of my favorites), but the coolest, most thrilling and unique vampire movie is this 1987 classic.

Yeah, definitely. Lost Boys is the undisputed king of Vampire movies imo.
The key thing is it doesn't take itself too seriously. It brings up the vampire lore in the form of the Frog Bros and their comics - it's doesn't go too deep but through them you find out all the mythos like the hounds of hell, inviting the head vampire in your house etc - this is interesting and fun. You don't have to set a blood sucker film in Transylvania like that POS Coppola movie to make it a good undead flick. You can take a modern, contemporary setting, some imagination and great actors plus the right tone which in this case was horror, thriller and comedy, and you can make an effective vampire movie.
The dark elements like the cave, Nazi punk and bridge scenes are very well done and create the right imagery for a movie of this type. The monster make up is fantastic and the soundtrack sets the right mood. Injecting a sense of youth into worked perfectly as did the Santa Carla setting.
I've seen other vampire movies and they just don't work because they have neither the energy or style of this.

Interview with the Vampire (1994)
(8/10 ; within my Top 63 movies in general) is BY FAR the best vampire themed movie, nothing else is even close.
this movie (The Lost Boys (1987)) on the other hand is forgettable and borderline below average. i gave it a 4.5-5/10 (Thumbs Down). basically it fizzles out noticeably late into the movie.
behind Interview with the Vampire my next choice would be, which also happens to be from the same director, Byzantium (2012-2013) (6-6.5/10).
p.s. Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) (4/10 (below average)) is pretty dull overall.

dude byzanium is so boring and bad. and interview with the vampire is the most over hyped and boring and just mediocre vampire movie ever made.
well here we go now we all know that you don't know what the **** you are talking about. anyone who think the lost boys is a forgettable and b b a doesn't know movies.
if what you are saying is true then all the millions of fans who grew up with the lost boys are wrong? this is the most enduring and memorable vampire movie of the '80s and even after bc when all the movies are talked about in this genre the lost boys is always in the the top 10.

Lost Boys will always be a classic. It was a brand-new twist on vampires. Stylish as hell. Brilliant movie. Great cinematography. Terrific cast. What's not to love?

2 completely different vampire movies. and you could make the argument just as great vampire movies. coppola made the most definitive and enduring vampire movie of quite possibly all time.
oh and anyone saying interview with the vampire is better than either of these movies is the dumbest piece of crap idiot ever. and doesn't have the right to talk movies ever again.
i bring this up bc sadly my friend who has a lot of knowledge on movies and has watched many movies after we talked about the lost boys he said i also love interview with the vampire and i was very confused. i mean iwtv isn't even the best vampire movie of 1994 probably. i was left mostly bored through its running time and very unimpressed. it didn't add anything new or important to the vampire movie genre.
now shadow of the vampire is an all time great vampire movie and a classic and a masterpiece.
do you love sotv?
