Makes me think what will kids look like in 20 years and will they laugh at our haircuts and clothing.
The special effects are bad but its still a good movie and soundtrack.

I'm watching it now thinking "why did I think they dressed so cool?" Lol
I was 12 when it came out. I didn't see it though till I was 13 or 14. I was in jr high & it was "the" cool movie to watch.

I am not sure what special effects you are talking about. I'm watching it now. The only effects I see are make up. Maybe a tad effects when Mike loses his grip off the train track.

Practical effects will always look better than cgi, imo. And the hair and clothing is no worse in this movie than what teenagers wear nowadays. Boys in skinny jeans, capris and leggings with lady hair? No thanks. Lol

The so-called special effects in the movie are terrific and they really hold up. By the way, their clothing is totally bitchin'!

Still better than the half shaven heads women seem to have nowadays. Nothing worse and pointless than that hair style.

Their image was totally cool for 1987, sort of a cross between punk, metal and biker - what young person didn't wanna look like that back then!

Wanted to date the vampires and I wanted to dress like Jamie Gertz's character Starr. Gypsy like-Big crinoline skirts, bustier, jean jacket and lots of jewelry how cool is that?
Plus curly hair!! Big hair was huge way back then I am still waiting for it to come back as I have no other choice.

..80's mullets rule! and high hair..and feathed hair 🙂

                          • hey it was the 80's and it's still awesome to see how the lost boys dressed like punks. They all looked so menacing.
                          • Kiefer Sutherland was just a bad ass in this and scarey too. great casting.
                          • and the movie's soundtrack is full of great songs, "lost in the shadows" by Lou Gramm is a timeless hit.

Welcome to the 80's. I inhaled enough aquanet to put down a rhino. Try sharing a bathroom with four older sisters during the late eighties

Funny how today it's the complete opposite of what it was in the 80's. Pants-half way down your butt and heads shaved man the definition of cool changes daily.

I was a 14-year-old metalhead when this movie came out and I thought the clothes were the coolest thing ever, haha. To be honest, the jacket that Alex Winter wore:
                                  http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=30695054
and the vintage military jacket and gypsy-type skirt that Jami Gertz wore (couldn't find a good pic of the skirt):
                                  http://www.movpins.com/big/MV5BMTkzNTg2MzA5MV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwOTI3NTk2MDE@.V1/still-of-jami-gertz-in-the-lost-boys-(1987)-large-picture.jpg
are both still pretty badass in my opinion.
The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.

Yes. The haircut and clothing of today is just as stupid looking as those of previous time periods, only stupid looking in a different way. The only truly cool look and hairstyles were from Central Africa around 500B.C.
