There are only seven basic plots in fiction, and only four classifications of conflict. It's virtually impossible to come up with something that isn't included in those.

There was a bad Italian-made sci fi movie made in the early 80s. The first half of the movie features a game show just like The Running Man. One shot from TRM reminded me of numerous shots from said movie. Wish I could remember the title, as I saw it entirely on YouTube.
The "good guy" survives the game, and one of the "stalkers" catches up with him to help out transporting some mutants across the country.

Am I really the only person who does't giva a F about whether The Hunger Games is a rip off from The Running Man or Battle Royale. But then again, I like all three movies somehow.

            The Running Man is better.

I'd say Hunger Games meets Maze Runner.

There was this movie called "The Condemned", which starred wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, which seems to have been inspired by "The Running Man" (a bunch of prisoners are dumped into a forest, and fight for their promised freedom by killing each other, but this is for an internet webcast, not a TV show).
It also seems that "The Hunger Games" is inspired by "The Condemned" (people being forced into the jungle to kill each other, with the survivor coming out the winner).

It's what the future that generation would create and look like, which is why so many movies or novels depictions are so similar to each other
