I'm reading the book now, and I'm picturing Paul Giamatti, Robert Wuhl and Robin Williams. They can play obnoxious game show host people but with a sinister quality to them.

Someone both charismatic and scary at the same timemaybe John Lithgow?
Or a bit left field because he's younger but I think Neil Patrick Harris would be really good - he has great range as an actor.
