Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — I Need To Know

    RavenGlamDVDCollector — 9 years ago(November 27, 2016 10:47 PM)

Those high-rise stacked storeys car parks. Girl parks her car. Often young blonde executive type, high heels clattering over the cement. Often a white skirt. Ominous music. Of course there's somebody watching her. A nasty stalker type.
Me and a friend used to rent stacks of VHS of the 'hot girl in it' type, thrillers, often lurid types, I suppose. Years later, my weakest memories are regarding video (as opposed to theatrical) releases. Theatrical gets a huge fanfare that can get lodged in your mind. But straight-to-video stuff, they came, we saw, I forgot.
The above KIND OF scene we encountered often, and I used to remark "Here we go again" like we knew this all too well.
I live in a small flat town and well remember that when I went to the city on a newspaper assignment to photograph a beauty competition, and first saw one of those car parks, I thought about all those video stuff.
Decades later. I collect girls on film. Like I said in my Profile, anything from BLACK SWAN to (imaginary) Bikinis Away. Ten years almost, watching DVD every day. But something is quite amiss.
No high-rise car parks. No clattering high heels on cement with some mad lunatic following innocent baby girl.
I'm talking late Eighties here, several movies. Okay, bad sexually exploitative movies.
And apart from girls being stalked in car parks, also a discussion group on exploitation movies of the trashy but glitzy kind. I never went for cheap common stuff, so please exclude the lowlife kind of junk. I'm talking pretty girls who look like classy calendar models. Wildly-themed thriller movies.
Let me give you a beautiful example. Rebecca de Mornay in AND GOD CREATED WOMAN. That one was the epitome of my kinda stuff.
    Any input welcomed.

Well, how about Rebecca De Mornay in the thriller The hand that rocks the cradle
or maybe Sherilyn Fenn in 2 Wild at heart, The wraith.
I keep racking my brain of course although you might want this on another board.
      Freeway
      Poison Ivy
      End of line

I'm really talking about exploitation movies, the kind you got billed as No Persons 4 - 18, for reasons of sex and nudity. Wish I could go back to 1991 or so, just for five minutes, and jot down the titles in the video-rent store. Recently, user Star-Core helped me identify a vague memory. This has since led to a placed order from a seller site, awaiting delivery. I have more excitement for nostalgia than for new stuff. Some years ago I even approached the owner of the video-store (which had burned down) in the desperate hope that maybe he still had an inventory somewhere, but it was all lost. Okay, many old names were junk. Fueled on by wonderful posters. ISLAND OF THE FISHMEN, apparently known as SCREAMERS in America, is total junk, but it had a poster to get delirious about, scantily-clad James Bond THE SPY WHO LOVED ME Barbara Bach floundering in the ocean as fish-creatures attack her. Yet the picture itself is absolutely drivel with alas, no such excitement, quite the opposite, the SCREAMERS are at the ticket office, demanding their money back.
I digress terribly. I started off very specific about girls in those high-rise car parks. But I'm generally scouting for names of video thrillers, movies of the lesser known variety, notorious for sex scenes, that kind of stuff.
As such I know of gems. Some would floor people. AMAZONIA, or THE CATHERINE MILES STORY, known in the USA as WHITE SLAVE, I learned on the Internet. Girl is grabbed by natives and carried off. Every bit as bad as you can imagine. And the Australian FAIR GAME, top contender for my favorite thrill. Rape revenge in the Australian outback. Beautiful Cassandra Delaney against three thugs who terrorize her by killing everything on the farm.
Check out those two, they won't waste your time. Admittedly, the first one is very far from Hollywood quality, but it makes for rivetting viewing.
As for your names, I should check up on 2 WILD AT HEART. Never seen. I have a copy of FREEWAY, with Reese Witherspoon, and POISON IVY the entire franchise is in my collection. As for THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE, that's a big theatrical release. Not what I'm talking about here. So's the original POISON IVY.
Anyway, pardon this messy approach, it should have been two board posts, yes.

I definitely get you about the posters and box art being soo off. And it is just "Wild at Heart" and I would say it's a miss. Will look forward to other contributors and add as I can remember. Cheers mate.

I'm thinking you've heard of or watched the "I Spit on your grave" org. and new.

I have yet to buy the original, but a friend suggested the remake, and I got it at a bargain price. It is a good movie with absolutely awful scenes. I of course rooted for the girl. But it is horrific to see what haopens to those guys. The crows. The acid bath. Makes the shotgun seem merciful. The actress went on to a movie that I found disappointing, THE STRANGER WITHIN.

All my research point to just exactly that. Reviewers say the original is better. But I have had a lot of stuff on my Wish List at the seller site, and you know what? Forgotten about this. Thanks for reminding me.

Then also newer but hot Wild Things, and I love Liv in The Strangers. On the other front working on Blood Games right now will let you know how it turns out.

What you have said about BLOOD GAMES sounds like music to me, I saw that when it was hot on the local video circuit. It's bad, I know, but I so wanna see it again, and there ain't no way.
My cellphone is gonna conk out soon, don't interpret silence as loss of interest, I need to recharge.
